It is a mandatory requirement for all students in the Band and Strings groups to have a 30 minute lesson every week during term time (recorders exempt).
Without lessons, children will be unable to master their skills which will undermine their enjoyment of the learning the instrument and impede the progress of others. A local list of tutors is provided below. A number of these tutors are in walking distance to BPS and accept group lessons, please ask the tutor about this directly.
These private lessons cover:
How to read music (not to be confused with the ability to play by ear)
How to play their instrument (how to hold it, correct embouchure, breathing, etc.)
Please take the relevant Band or String Ensemble sheet music to your lessons.
Note: students in the Recorder Ensembles are not required to have private lessons.
